Preterizm, Kitab-ı Mukaddes'teki bazı (kısmi preterizm) veya tüm (tam preterizm) kehanetleri tarihte zaten gerçekleşmiş olaylar olarak yorumlayan bir Hristiyan eskatolojik görüş veya inancıdır. Bu düşünce okulu, Daniel Kitabı'nı M.Ö. yedinci yüzyıldan M.S. birinci yüzyıla kadar gerçekleşen olaylara atıfta bulunurken, Vahiy Kitabı'ndaki kehanetleri ve Zeytin Dağı Söylevi'ndeki İsa'nın kehanetlerini M.S. birinci yüzyılda gerçekleşen olaylar olarak görür. Tarihsel olarak, preteristler ve preterist olmayanlar genel olarak Cizvit Luis de Alcasar'ın (1554-1613) Karşı Reformasyon sırasında yayınlanan Apocalypsi'de Vestigatio arcani sensus adlı kehanetin ilk sistematik preterist açıklamasını yazdığı konusunda hemfikirdir.
Etimoloji
Preterizm terimi, bir şeyin 'geçmiş' veya 'ötesinde' olduğunu belirten bir önek olan Latince praeter kelimesinden gelir. Preterizmin taraftarlarına preterist denir.
