Önceki yaşamı

Ellen Hansen, 3 Haziran 1911 yılında Wisconsin, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde doğdu. Çocukluğunu Philadelphia'da geçirdi ve burada büyüdü. Lise yıllarında ise tiyatroya merak saldı ve amatör bir şekilde yapmaya başladı. Sonrasında bu işi profesyonel olarak yapmak istedi. Francis Corby ile birlikte çalışmaya başladı ve Francis Corby ile 23 yaşında evlendi.

Kariyeri

Kariyerine bir yazar olarak başladı. Ardından kendisi de filmlerde rol aldı. 1948 yılında Altın Küre ödülünü aldı. Bu ödülden sonra 4 yıl boyunca televizyon ve film üstüne çalıştı. The Waltons filmi ile ününü iyice arttırdı. Sonrasında üç Emmy Ödülü kazandı. 1989 yılında Johnny Cash, Angie Dickinson, Robert Duvall gibi isimlerle birlikte 7.Golden Boot sahibi oldu.

Özel hayatı

1934 yılında Francis Corby ile evlendi. Bu evlilik 10 yıl sürdü. Herhangi bir çocuğu olmadı ve bu ilk ve son evliliğiydi. Francis Corby ise 1956 yılında ölmüştür. Ellen Hansen, 1969 yılında Transandantal Meditasyon öğretmeni olmak için kendini yetiştirmeye çalışmıştır. 87 yaşındayken ise ölmüştür.
