Eğitimi
1921'de Türkiye'de doğan Papoulis'in ailesi 1922 yılında Türkiye-Yunanistan nüfus mübadelesi neticesinde Atina'ya göç etti. Burada Papoulis, National Technical University of Athens'den Elektrik mühendisliği'nde B.S. derecesini elde ettikten sonra, 1950 yılında da Pensilvanya Üniversitesi'nden Matematik - Ph.D. derecesi aldı.
Bilimsel bașarıları
- Papoulis'in örnekleme kuramı genellemesi,Nyquist–Shannon örnekleme kuramının birçok değişik halini tek bir kuram olarak ifadesidir.
- Papoulis–Gerchberg algoritması,Sinyal işleme ve Görüntü işleme konularında geniş uygulamaları olan bir iterasyon algorithmasıdır.
- Geleneksel örnekleme kuramı ile ilgili olan "Papoulis'in zarif ispatı," ise sadece iki denklem ihtiva etmektedir.
